The main building materials used in building construction are bricks, woods, cement, and tiles.

There are types of building materials which are environmental hazards that become a big concern to all. The basic types of building materials for building construction are mud, brush and stone.

Here are different types on building materials:

  • The mud is used for concrete, plugging the places between bricks, and insulation. The mud material leads to many building styles.
  • Bricks and blocks are building materials types that were common in building construction.
  • Wood is very common too. It has various characteristics and different types to choose that is suitable for your building. It can be flexible and very strong.
  • Concrete is another building type material contain binder and an aggregate. Concrete is very helpful in building construction. The major ingredient for concrete mix is fly ash due to the increase thermal insulation and lightweight.
  • Rock is the most lasting building type material and readily available. You can find various types of rock around the world. It provides a lot of safety because it is solid.
  • Brush is usually found in tropical area like in the rain forest. Their structures are built totally of the plant components. Usually they are built with twigs, branches, and leaves.
  • Metals are also flexible, strong, and would last for a long time. This is used as a structural framework to a larger building. The steel is also a metal alloy and its major element is iron. Other metals such as chrome, silver, gold, and titanium are used as decoration because of their characteristics that are too soft that can’t provide support on structure.
  • Ceramics used as coverings or fixtures in buildings.
  • Plastics differ in resiliency, hardness, and heat tolerance. The name plastic is derived from its semi-liquid status and it is flexible.
  • Foam is a lightweight, effective insulator and easily shaped.

Other building materials types are glass, fabrics, asbestos, solvent coating, polyvinyl chloride, waterproof materials, paper linoleum, and thatch.
